First Aid

The First Aid courses for this term have now taken place; it is unlikely there will be any more courses until the Summer Term. If you need people training in First Aid then contact Angie Park .

Every year we run First Aid Courses which provide clubs and society members with a real qualification that lasts for three years.

The First Aid courses for the year are run in Michaelmas Term so that people are trained as early in the year as possible. Here is the information on the First Aid courses being run this November.

Please note that the priority for the Appointed Persons First Aid Qualification is given to the field sports because of their remote nature in terms of first aid cover during training and matches.

We rarely offer the course to sports or activities that take place inside the Sports Centre as there is plenty of first Aid cover on hand.

Equally, for activities that take place within range of a college porter the same applies as they are all First Aid trained and qualified.

First Aid courses are subsidised by LUSU and we expect the individual and the society to make up the rest of the cost.

The course costs £45 per person

LUSU pays £15 per person for up to 3 people per society

Often a society decides to pay the whole £30 that remains for the individual.

If an individual doesn't turn up for no good reason then LUSU claims the £15 back from that individual as we cannot afford to waste money and that subsidy can be put towards another person. So please ensure that people are really interested and will turn up before you put them forward.

The courses always take place on a Saturday OR Sunday.

There are 17 places on each course and there is a maximum of 3 people from each society on each course.

Payment must be made in full for each person at the time of booking; this must be at least a full week before the course takes place. To book contact Angie Park .

The following societies should consider putting people in for this annually as it forms part of their Safety Code of Practice

Theatre Group

Martial Arts Groups

Dance Groups

Running, Cycling, Kiting

Hiking, Mountaineering and Backpackers

PLEASE NOTE:

It is vital that the activities named here ensure that they have people on the courses run in the Michaelmas Term to ensure maximum cover for activities from the start of the year. DON'T MISS OUT Contact Angie Park for further details.
