BAR & JCR

The social heart of any college! The Furness bar, commonly known as 'Trevor', is almost always packed from opening time to last orders, and you're almost guaranteed to always find a friendly face within.

Trevor is a classic pub-styled bar and features a selection of real ales, a patio, darts board, jukebox and non-smoking back bar with piano. It is open between 12pm-11pm Mon-Fri, 6pm-11pm Saturday and 7pm-10:30pm Sunday.

The bar opens out into the Junior Common Room, which features several arcade games and a pair of pool tables. Both the bar and JCR offer wireless access to the campus network and internet.

TELEVISION ROOM

The TV room has a widescreen TV showing all terrestrial channels, and can also be used either for meetings or quiet relaxation.

QUIET STUDY ROOM

The study room contains several desks and chairs, and provides a quiet environment for anyone wishing to study. Particularly invaluable for those needing to revise before exams!

OFF-CAMPUS ROOM / KITCHEN

The off-campus room is available primarily for the use of members of the college who live off-campus. The room has modest cooking facilities, a sink and a fridge as well as a microwave. In addition, it contains lockers which can be used by off-campus students. The key to a locker can be obtained from the college office for a deposit of £10, reclaimable when the key is returning. More lockers are available in both toilet areas in the college foyer.

EQUIPMENT LOAN

The college has a small portable television, a VHS video recorder, two combined televisions and video recorders, a playstation, a CD player and some board games, all of which are available on loan, free of charge, to members of the College. The equipment is available from the College Office. The College also has a barbecue area on the patio behind the bar; the barbecue and tools may by hired for a small charge during bar opening hours. The back bar has a piano, the key for which may be obtained from the Porters or from the Licensee.

NOTICEBOARDS

There are seven noticeboards in the College foyer; one electronic, two glass cases and four pinboards. The electronic noticeboard and two of the pinboards are used to advertise College events, the glass case outside the College Office contains photographs of all the College SCR Officers and of the JCR Executive, and the glass case outside the JCR Office contains details of term dates, travel awards and other useful information.

WINE CLUB

The College has a thriving Wine Club, which holds occasional tastings based around particular themes and which provides a forum for those in the College with an interest in wine. Members of the College can join the Club by paying a joining fee to the College Secretary (£2.50 for students, £5.00 for senior members). Wines from the College cellar are available, at bargain prices, to members of the Club. Members may purchase wine through the Bar. For more information, visit the Wine Club's official site.
