International Student support
There is a variety of support services available to International students. The main source of welfare and financial advice is the International Office. This is located in Student Support on the ground floor of University House.
For those concerned about their level English when writing essays and assignments, the Student Learning Support Centre provides the following language courses for current students:
- Classes in general English for academic purposes
- Special teaching within some academic departments
- Individual tutorials for students requiring extra support, especially with departmental written communication
There is no charge for these courses.
Within the Graduate College, there are many international events which are held either in the Bar or in the college Common Room. Further activities are available from various cultural societies, particular to ones own country or region. Most of these will have posters advertising events around campus. In terms of shopping, there are number of speciality ethnic food shops in the city, for example Majae (halal), and Mung-Mee (Thai) - the best sources of information about this will come from the cultural societies.
Out of the two banks on campus, NatWest is generally regarded as being better for international students.
