Currently almost 50% of students at Lancaster University are members of a Society. There are between 60 and 70 societies registered with LUSU and you have the choice of all of them!

Societies offer the opportunity for you to learn new skills, meet like-minded people, make lots of friends and generally have a great time.

Every Society has a stall at Freshers Fair and will be more then happy and enthusiastic to answer your questions and convince you they are the society for you to join!

If you can't wait until Freshers' Fair or its part way through the academic year and you are not sure how to join have a look at the list of Societies on offer. If you see one you like have a look around their web page or contact one of the exec.

If there isn't a link pop into the Student Activities Office and leave a message for the Society in their pigeonhole.

If you want to know when each of the societies meet then take a look at the Societies Meeting Table, you can then pop down to one of their sessions to see what they do or go and join up.

There should be something for everyone but if you can't see a society you want to join why not start one up yourself? Have a look at the Setting Up a Society section or alternatively pop into the Student Activities Department in LUSU to discuss your idea.

Please check the Societies Union Executive Committee section for news on what's currently being discussed...

Societies Report

In April 2006 LUSU did a large amount research on the views and opinions of the executive members of each society regarding the way societies work now and how societies and LUSU can work together in the future.
