Welcome to the Athletic Union and Inter-College

Athletic Union

At Lancaster University there are numerous opportunities to play Sport. Whether you have been involved since childhood or just want to try something new we hope to provide you with the chance to take part in some way, shape or form.

We currently have 30 clubs ranging from American Football or Korfball to some more familiar sports such as Hockey, Rugby and Football. Have a look at the AU Club list and see some of the clubs we have on offer. All of our AU clubs compete in BUSA (British University Sports Association) and many also compete in local leagues.

The Athletic Union aims to provide both competitive and recreational sport to our students. Here at Lancaster we are striving to form a more elite group of athletes, aiming to improve their personal fitness and teams to reach their full potential.

However this does not mean that if you are taking up a sport for the first time we don't provide for you. Many of our clubs have a number of squads and are keen to recruit new members.

So you have a competitive side and a social side but there is also the organisation part…all clubs are run by students for students. The organisation of fixtures is done centrally by the Student Activities office, but it is up to the individual clubs to keep on top of the information and make sure all their clubs members are informed. Maybe this is for you?

You should find everything you need to know about the Athletic Union within this section, however if you have any other questions or comments on the website please get in touch with the people listed on the contacts page.

Inter-College

Inter College Sport provides the opportunity for the students in the colleges to get involved in sport. The Carter Shield programme and the various leagues gives you the chance to have a go at trying and hopefully be on the team that represents your college at any manner of activities, from the more conventional sports such as Football, Netball,Table Tennis and Basketball to ones you may not have heard of like Aeroball and Dodgeball. Check out the Inter College pages for more details.
