Tips on how to avoid attack
· Always lock your bedroom door whether in or out of your room even if you've just gone for a quick shower.
· When out always carry a personal attack alarm- available for just £1 from the women's office or LUSU reception.
· Try not to walk alone at night... stick with friends and stick to main, well-lit areas.
· Make sure a friend always knows where you're going and when you're expected back.
· Don't go back with strangers after a night out, take them back to yours or make sure a friend knows where you're going.
· Use the women's safe transport bus.... It will take you to your own front door.
· Always ask for identification when letting strangers into your house.
If you have a car:
· Always check the back seat before you get in.
· Try to reverse into parking spaces, if you're being followed to your car it will be easier to drive out of the space in a hurry.
· Never stop if you see someone in trouble whilst driving alone late at night. Drive to the nearest well-lit phone (or use your mobile) and call the police.
